"A small amplitude upbeat nystagmus is
seen in center gaze in this woman with alcoholic cerebellar
degeneration. Lateral gaze produces gaze paretic nystagmus. Fixation
is steady on upward gaze. In downward gaze, the upbeating nystagmus
is present. The upbeat nystagmus is more easily seen on closer
viewing."
