"This young man also has congenital
nystagmus with jerk wave form that beats to the right. While fixating
with his left eye, he can voluntarily overconverge causing a right
esotropia and dampening the nystagmus. He spontaneously discovered
that this maneuver improved his vision at distance and near. He does
not have diplopia during the esotropia. The mechanism may be similar
to that underlying the esotropia in the nystagmus blockage syndrome
in infants."
